Meng Ding Green Teas

Welcome to MyTeaPal Club 2022 January edition! This month we are featuring famous green and yellow teas from Sichuan, the home province of our founder Vincent, sourced directly from producers from his multiple trips. Located to the north of Yunnan, Sichuan has great climate and soil to grow tea plants. According to some sayings, Mt. Mengding in Ya'an city has the earliest written record of tea growing by Wu Lizhen in 53 BCE and has a history of producing tribute tea for emperors. Regarding the annual raw tea (mao cha) production, Sichuan ranks top 4 in all Chinese provinces. The most famous tea style is probably Meng Ding Gan Lu, one of the top ten Chinese famous teas. Shi Hua and Mao Feng are popular among the locals, too. Scented green teas like our Snowflake Jasmine Green Needle are a special from Sichuan, as many Sichuanese enjoy drinking them in old teahouses. And lastly, we have Meng Ding Huang Ya, a rare and well-known yellow tea not readily available in the tea market outside of China. About the producers: Tea Culture Research Institute of Wu Lizhen is a non-profit organization founded by Master Zeng Zhidong, who has been in the tea industry for over two decades and is renown for spreading tea culture about Mengding Mountain and its teas. Yun He Shan is overseen by the Master Yang Shaohuai who's a renown figure in the Tibetan tea industry and has published three books on Tea Horse Road, with one of them being adapted to a TV show. Their tea production is led by Master Wang Rongping, a province level tea-making master and national 1st level tea connoisseur. Hope you enjoy all the teas!
