Artisanal Indian Tea
After one full year of launching our tea club subscription, we're doing our first international collaboration featuring teas from India. Introducing Lochan Tea to our tea club! Their Doke Tea Estate is in the Bihar region of India, a region new to tea where they are the pioneers. The tea trees were planted about 20 years ago, and the Lochan family had transformed the land from being vacant to much more productive than usual, while keeping the estate organic since day one. They produce hand-crafted white, black, oolong and green teas. Their founder Rajiv Lochan is very knowledgeable in tea processing, and he maintains good connection with the Chinese tea industry. In fact, he appeared on a famous documentary "Tea: The Story of a Leaf" produced by China Central Television, aired in 2013. We selected 3 autumn harvest teas (green, oolong, and black tea) from their Doke Tea Estate, and their first flush black tea from Giddapahar Tea Estate in high mountains of Darjeeling. Brewing instruction: 80˚C / 176˚F for the green tea, and 90˚C / 194˚F for the rest. Western style: 1g : 50-75ml, 2-3 minutes. Gongfu style: 1g : 30-40ml, 10-20s, then increment by 10s. We will invite the Lochan family to our virtual events, so stay tuned for our event information.
