Fresh Green Tea

We've been waiting a long time to put together this year's green tea club box. This spring's selection is especially close to us because it features teas from two provinces we've never introduced before: Hainan and Henan. Very few people know that Hainan island produces tea at all. We traveled to its tea regions three years ago and have wanted to feature a Wuzhi Mountain green tea ever since. That same year, we also sourced in Henan, home of Xin Yang Mao Jian—the province's most famous tea, and this one comes from a wild, ecologically pristine mountain. From the Dabie Mountains of western Anhui comes Lu'an Gua Pian, one of the most unusual green teas in China. Alone among the famous teas, it's made from a single mature leaf—no bud, no stem—and picked around Grain Rain in late April, weeks after most fine greens are done. As for Guiding Wilderness Green Tea, we first encountered it four years ago and have wanted to feature it ever since, but its wild trees grow slowly and the harvest always fell too late to fit our shipping schedule. This year, with our quarterly model, the timing finally aligned—and we couldn't be happier to include and Lu’an Gua Pian at last. Four green teas, two new provinces, and a few stories years in the making. We hope you enjoy them as much as we've enjoyed bringing them to you.
