Description
This tea was harvested around the Cold Dew solar term around October 9th, 2016. For Fuding white tea, the autumn harvest is the most common harvest after the spring harvest. Autumn harvest teas’ aroma and taste differ from that of the spring harvest, and they are favored by many tea enthusiasts. Its origin, Panxi town, is considered one of the best micro-regions of Fuding for producing the highest quality white tea. Before being compressed into the biscuit shape (around 5 grams each), this tea was stored in loose-leaf form in a relatively dry condition. Shou Mei (寿眉, lit. Longevity Eyebrow) got its name because of its crescent shape resembling an old man's eyebrow. Made of naturally withered tips, leaves, and sometimes stems, it is ranked after Bai Hao Yin Zhen and Bai Mu Dan in terms of picking standards. This grade of white tea benefits from its coarser leaves and stems, having the greatest potential for aging among other grades. Leaves and stems contain rich content and flavor, and the spacing of the stems allows more airflow and ultimately a greater level of oxidation while aging.
