Description
Fo Xiang is a cultivar bred by Yunnan Province Academy of Agricultural Sciences Institute of Tea, which was founded in 1938 and became an important and authoritative tea cultivar research institute in the province and nation. This tea comes from an organic tea garden maintained by the institute. Fo Xiang directly translates to Buddha Fragrance, but it’s not the literal meaning for fragrance of buddha, because the Fo part comes from Menghai’s old name Fo Hai. This cultivar is a crossbreed between Yunnan’s big leaf cultivar and Fujian’s small leaf cultivar, therefore having a nice balance of Yunnan white tea’s depth and Fujian white tea’s sweetness. It's recognized as an excellent cultivar on the provincial level. The picking standard is close to 1st grade Bai Mu Dan, which has a fair number of buds. The processing technique is done properly with natural withering, and the storage is professionally clean. One cake of this tea weighs 200 grams.
