Description
Da Wu Ye means Big Dark Leaf in Chinese, meaning the cultivar has larger and darker green leaves than other dancong cultivars. It was bred in 1950s in Shangjiao village of Fenghuang town, and this tea is from the origin place. Similar to Ya Shi Xiang, this tea is also famous for its high fragrance. Liu Xue (Sixth Snow) is a harvest season that’s later than Xue Pian (aka Snowflake), which are both winter harvests of dancong teas. However, tea trees of certain cultivars such as Da Wu Ye can withstand the cold weather and sprout in December, allowing them to be picked for the last time in the year’s harvest cycle. Liu Xue tea production is the least in quantity, and those teas are said to have the highest fragrance due to the cold growing environment with frost. This tea is lightly roasted with a pleasant floral fragrance. The liquor color is golden yellow, and the flavor is sweet and long-lasting.
