Description
Meng Ding Gan Lu, or “Sweet Dew,” is one of the most iconic green teas from Sichuan Province, produced on the misty, high-altitude slopes of Mengding Mountain. Tea cultivation on this mountain dates back over a thousand years, and Meng Ding Gan Lu has become a distinct style known for its fine downy buds, curled leaf shape, and traditional three rounds of pan-frying and rolling processing method. This tea is crafted from Lao Chuan Cha, an heirloom Sichuan cultivar that sprouts later than modern varieties like Fuxuan #9. While less uniform in appearance, Lao Chuan Cha yields a more layered, expressive flavor. We prefer this cultivar for its rich aromatics and enduring sweetness. Our 2025 batch was harvested on April 3, using the single bud picking standard—the first flush of the season from these tea trees. This grade is rare and highly prized for capturing the plant’s earliest energy and purity. The finished dry leaves are slender, curled, and covered in delicate silvery hairs. Once steeped, the liquor is bright and clear, with a soft, lasting sweetness and elegant notes of toasted bean, orchid, and early spring greens—a refreshing profile that truly lives up to its name, Sweet Dew.
