- Description
- Harvested on March 6, 2021. Mei Zhan cultivar has been grown in Ya’an for decades, and tea farmers have been experimenting with this cultivar to make various teas, including this premium quality Jin Jun Mei, a famous style invented around 2008 in Fujian province. Its processing includes one time roasting around 20 days.

Western style brewing! We just woke up (... at noon...), so we flubbed the first brewing time and badly burned it. The second steep went much better!

From the last time I brewed this tea, I increased brewing time, decreased water temperature, and lowered the amount of water used. Splendid!

A more bland Jin Jun mei in my limited experience. Had some nice butter toffee tones on the first two infusions but didn’t really offer more after that.

Wet leaves smelled pleasantly sweet. Slight sourness. It’s not an in-your-face JJM, but the subtlety is also good because it does not demand your attention
