Tibetan Dark Teas
Tibetan tea, known as 藏茶 (Zang Cha) and formerly called 南路边茶 (Nan Lu Bian Cha), traces its origins back over 1300 years to the Tang Dynasty and holds indispensable significance in Tibetan life and culture. Despite its long history, Tibetan tea has only recently gained traction in the Chinese domestic market since around 2006. Unlike traditional tea bricks made from coarse leaves, our selection comprises four teas tailored specifically for the domestic market. These four exceptional Tibetan teas come from the 2018 spring harvest and represent the pinnacle of craftsmanship and tradition. Tender tea leaves were harvested during the spring season and underwent a meticulous six-month process, involving five major steps and 32 techniques. The tea producer paid painstaking attention to detail to ensure the products embody the highest quality and authenticity of Tibetan teas. Each of these four teas is made using the same base tea, yet with unique blend recipes. With the exception of the Ya Xi, they undergo additional processing methods such as being scented with jasmine flowers or mixed with tangerine from Xinhui, further enhancing their uniqueness.
