Phoenix Dancong
Following the enthusiastic response to our March 2023 tea club, we are excited to present another eagerly awaited Phoenix Dancong tea club featuring four distinct aroma types. Feng Huang Dan Cong (凤凰单丛), or Phoenix Single Bush, is a celebrated oolong tea from Phoenix Town in Chaozhou, located in the northern part of Guangdong Province. This region shares a rich tea culture similar to that of Southern Fujian, with a strong tradition of Gong Fu Cha. Dancong teas are renowned for their diverse aroma profiles, encompassing ten major types and over two hundred varieties, each named for its distinctive fragrance. Often referred to as the "Perfume of Tea", Dancong oolongs are prized for their extraordinary aromatic complexity and the unique terroir of the Phoenix Mountains, where the mineral-rich soil and misty climate contribute to their distinctive character. We have selected the two most popular Dancong aromas: Mi Lan Xiang (Honey Orchid Aroma) and Ya Shi Xiang (Duck Shit Aroma). Mi Lan Xiang is known for its sweet, floral fragrance with hints of ripe fruit and honey, while Ya Shi Xiang, despite its unusual name, offers a rich, creamy aroma with subtle floral notes. We are also delighted to introduce two rarer varieties: Gong Xiang (Tribute Aroma), part of the most prestigious Huang Zhi Xiang (Gardenia Aroma) family, and You Hua Xiang (Pomelo Blossom Aroma), a unique selection outside of the major ten aromas. Gong Xiang is cherished for its elegant floral scent, while You Hua Xiang captivates with its citrusy fragrance reminiscent of pomelo blossoms.
