Phoenix Dancong Oolong
We continue our exploration of Phoenix Dancong (凤凰单丛), a tea category renowned for its naturally aromatic cultivars. Grown in the Phoenix Mountain region of Chaozhou, Guangdong Province, these teas are crafted using traditional methods that enhance their distinct floral and fruity characteristics. With over two hundred recognized varieties, Dancong’s unique aroma types offer a layered sensory experience, evolving beautifully over multiple infusions. We feature four distinct Dancong varieties, each showcasing its own elegance. Gui Hua Xiang (Osmanthus Aroma), one of the ten classic Dancong aroma types, is known for its sweet osmanthus fragrance and lingering honeyed finish. Xing Ren Xiang (Almond Aroma) presents a warming contrast, balancing deep, toasty almond notes with soft floral undertones. Po Tou Xiang is classified under the Ye Lai Xiang (Telosma cordata) Aroma Type, captivating with its intoxicating floral and fruity bouquet. Lastly, Snowflake Ya Shi Xiang (Duck Shit Aroma), a winter-harvested tea, offers a refined take on this beloved cultivar, featuring a creamy texture and delicate floral notes. Together, these teas highlight the diversity and depth of Phoenix Dancong, offering a sensory journey through one of China’s most prized oolong traditions.
