Taiwanese Style Oolong from Fujian and Yunnan

We’re featuring four Taiwanese-style oolongs produced outside Taiwan—three from Wuliang Mountain in Yunnan and one from Fujian. The inspiration comes directly from our October 2025 tea club, when a Wuliang Mountain oolong became a clear member favorite. These three Yunnan oolongs come from the same high-elevation garden in Wuliangshan Town, near the Wuliang Mountain National Nature Reserve, grown between 1,800 and 2,500 meters on cool, forested slopes with clean air and frequent mountain mist. The garden spans 1,000+ mu and cultivates oolong varieties such as Tie Guan Yin, Jin Xuan, and Qingxin Oolong. While Wuliang Mountain is traditionally known for Yunnan large-leaf teas, over the past two decades it has proven exceptionally well-suited to oolong cultivars, producing teas with pronounced fragrance, clarity, and layered structure shaped by Yunnan’s altitude and ecology. While Yunnan’s White Tip Oolong is an experimental product, Da Tian Mei Ren from Fujian is a modern example of Fujian–Taiwan technique exchange evolving into a localized tradition. Its history traces back to the 1990s, when Taiwanese Eastern Beauty know-how was introduced to Datian County. Both Eastern Beauty–style teas rely on tea jassid feeding to trigger honeyed, floral, and fruit-toned aromatics, and they’re designed for direct side-by-side comparison.
