Description
This is a high-elevation Jin Xuan Oolong (金萱乌龙) from Wuliang Mountain, crafted in a Taiwanese-leaning oolong style that highlights cultivar expression shaped by mountain climate. Harvested and processed on April 30, 2025, it comes from a tea garden at ~1900m, where the slopes spend much of the year under mist and high humidity and sunlight arrives mostly as soft, diffused illumination. That gentler light helps reduce sun stress on the plants while supporting the kind of leaf chemistry associated with a more fragrant, less aggressive cup. Wuliang Mountain’s pronounced day–night temperature swing is a major part of the story: cooler nights slow leaf respiration and can help preserve sweetness while moderating harsher phenolics. Combined with steady moisture from monsoon rainfall and mountain dew, the result is a tea that reads as clear, elegant, and “gentle but structured,” with a smooth, sweet-leaning texture. Jin Xuan’s hallmark in excellent lots is its naturally occurring creamy “milk” aroma—not an added flavor—often interlaced with a bright apple-like fruit note. In this tea, the creaminess presents as a soft, dairy-adjacent impression (think warm milk foam rather than candy), while the fruit note keeps the cup feeling clean and buoyant. In top-grade infusions, you may also catch faint honeyed or osmanthus-like accents, and the aroma tends to stay present across multiple steeps, with lingering fragrance even after the cup cools.
