Steeping instructions
Portion: Use one dragon ball (~8 grams) per serving. Halve with a tea knife if you prefer a lighter flavor. Water Temperature: Use boiling water at 100°C (212°F) for all steps. Vessel: A gaiwan is recommended over a teapot for faster pouring and better control. Rinse: Rinse for 30 seconds before the first infusion. Steeping: For the first three infusions, steep for 30s, 20s, and 10s. For subsequent infusions, use flash steeping, gradually increasing the time as the flavor lightens. Each dragon ball can last through 10 or more infusions.
Description
The 2019 Yi Wu GuShu Raw Pu-erh is sourced from Tianmenshan in Yiwu, a region historically revered for producing tribute teas in the Qing Dynasty. Harvested from tea trees over 100 years old, this tea is processed traditionally—withered, pan-fried, rolled, sun-dried, and later hand-rolled into dragon balls. Yiwu is known for its high-quality, often expensive pu-erh teas, sought after for their unique flavor profiles. Stored as Maocha (semi-processed loose leaf tea) in Kunming from 2019 to 2023, this tea has been carefully aged to enhance its complexity. In 2023, it was hand-rolled into dragon balls, refining its flavor and aroma. Yiwu Pu-erh is renowned for its smooth, mellow character and honey-like sweetness, with a lingering aftertaste that captures the elegance of this historic tea region. This tea offers a glimpse into the rich heritage and superior craftsmanship that have made Yiwu a legendary name in the world of pu-erh.
