Description
Yellow tea is one of the six major Chinese tea types but is very scarce in the market, not to mention a jasmine 5-time scented yellow tea. Mt. Mengding produces excellent yellow teas such as Mengding Huangya (yellow bud) and others. This yellow tea is made from leaves picked in early spring using the same processing technique as Mengding Huangya, with the only difference being the picking standard: 1 bud and 1 leaf instead of all buds. When jasmine flowers were about to bloom in Leishan’s August hot summer days, the tea producer scented this yellow tea 5 times, each time with a fresh batch of unbloomed jasmine flowers waiting to bloom overnight. After each time’s scenting, the bloomed flowers need to be picked out for the next batch to be mixed in. The final step involves baking the tea dry, which balances the tea flavor and jasmine aroma and keeps the moisture content low for long-term storage.
