Description
Xi Hu Long Jing 西湖龙井 (lit. West Lake Dragon Well) is a pan-fried, flat-shape green tea. It takes its name from the eponymous Long Jing Spring at the Long Jing Village near West Lake, a famous freshwater lake in Hangzhou. In the 1700s, Long Jing impressed the Qianlong Emperor of the Qing Dynasty and became well-known. To this day, it is still considered as one of the most famous Chinese teas, and possibly the most famous Chinese green tea. Under the rule of National Geographical Indication Product Protection, only those produced from the designated area near West Lake are qualified to have their name prefixed with Xi Hu. There are five historically famous production areas: Shifeng, Longjiing, Yunxi, Hupao, and Meijiawu. This product is from Longwu, where the largest quantity of Xi Hu Long Jing is produced every year. In last year’s fresh green tea club, we selected a Longjing from Fuyang district and called it Hangzhou Longjing. This year’s authentic West Lake Longjing is more expensive, despite being produced on the day of Qingming (April 5, 2023).
