Wuyi Rock Tea
From our annual survey, our club members' favorite theme from last year was Wuyi Yancha (or rock tea), so we decided to host this theme again. Our curator Vincent traveled across Fujian province in late April and early May, and he sourced these 5 rock oolong teas in Wuyishan. All these teas are from the Zheng Yan (lit. original rock) producing region, the most precious and core region for Wuyi rock tea within the Wuyishan National Park area. They were all produced in 2022. Unlike our last month's green teas which need to be tasted fresh, Wuyi rock teas are usually enjoyed one year after they're finished with roasting. Da Hong Pao, Shui Xian, and Rou Gui are the top 3 famous Wuyi rock teas, and we also included two other popular teas Qi Lan and Huang Guan Yin that are renowned for their aroma. They were all traditionally processed and baked to the medium level, except for the Shui Xian whose floral characteristics was highlighted during the processing stage. Each of them was produced in small batch from a single origin and not blended with other teas.
